I was born and bred in the North East and have enjoyed photography from a very young age, having photographs published in the 'Look-in' magazine in the early 1980's.
My early camera equipment included the Kodak disc camera, which I won in a photography competition, and then I progressed to using an SLR (not digital in those days!). I still have my Pentax ME Super today.
I'm a qualified tutor and I've spent the last 30+ years teaching IT to adults. I've worked in public and private sector and also in further education settings, where I had the opportunity to run photography classes and workshops. In 2000 I began delivering Photoshop courses at all levels to commercial clients as well as mature students.
I've been fortunate enough to have spare time to enjoy photography as a hobby, and been thankful to my tutors and mentors who have helped me improve my skills with my camera. Over the last six years I've won a number of photography awards, and I am passionate to help other people increase their enjoyment of the hobby by learning more about their camera, increasing their photography skill level and having the confidence and skills to further improve their photos with editing software.
Where I specialise in helping people learn, is by explaining things at a level that people understand. Jargon-free for novices and beginners, and 'techie' talk for those with more experience.
Personally, I enjoy taking photos of landscapes, sunrises and sunsets, coastal and water images, reflections, flowers and foliage, wildlife and buildings - well everything really! The North East to me is such a special place and living here means that I'm only a few minutes away from our amazing coast and so many other local fantastic locations where there is always something new to discover. Whenever I go out my camera is with me, giving me the chance to capture a moment in time that can stay with me forever and I can share with others.
